Car manufacturers are forced to reduce engine power to meet strict environmental standards, tax regulations, and their own marketing objectives. In addition, they do not know in what climate or on what quality of fuel the car will be operated, nor what the driver’s driving style will be, so they program the factory ECU firmware with an “average” operating mode for the vehicle. They simply cannot predict the exact climate conditions or fuel quality in which the car will be used.
