The Japanese automotive corporation Toyota has unexpectedly applied for the registration of the Daihatsu trademark in Russia. The application covers the category of "cars and auto parts," which may indicate the company's serious plans for the Russian market.
Daihatsu is a subsidiary brand of Toyota that specializes in producing compact cars and the popular kei cars in Japan. In the first half of 2025, the brand produced an impressive 496,000 vehicles.
The company has not yet disclosed the details of its plans, but experts speculate that it may be related to Toyota's return to the Russian market under a new brand or the launch of a budget-friendly car line.
