The Russian lineup of body-on-frame SUVs Tank 500 will soon be joined by a version with a plug-in hybrid powertrain producing 408 hp. The new model is equipped with the Hi4-T system, which includes a 2.0-liter gasoline engine, an electric motor, a 9-speed automatic transmission, and a 37.1 kWh battery. The electric-only range reaches up to 110 km, while the total range extends to 790 km according to the WLTC cycle.
The plug-in hybrid is almost identical in features and appearance to the gasoline version, maintaining its format and status as a competitor to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. The Tank 500 is already the most popular body-on-frame SUV in Russia, and the hybrid version promises to strengthen its market position.
The introduction of this model reflects the trend toward eco-friendly technologies in the segment of powerful SUVs and expands the choices for Russian buyers seeking a combination of power and efficiency.
