The increase in the recycling fee in Russia, which was discussed in September, is likely to be postponed to January 1, 2026. This was told by Evgeny Malov, a car selection expert and presenter of the Malov Method YouTube channel.
"The phone was literally bursting" — customers are rushing to buy a car, fearing price increases. The number of requests has tripled since June-July, and auto experts can't keep up with the flow of customers.
The focus is especially on cars 3-5 years old with a capacity of up to 160 hp, which are subject to preferential recycling. Their prices may rise first in the coming months, and then the rest of the secondary market will catch up.
But there is no need to panic: according to Malov, the growth of recycling will be moderate, and the possible next adjustment will be only in the spring of 2026, on April 1.
